As President of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), Austin Section, it is both an honor and pleasure to welcome you to the website. NCNW Austin Section is a voluntary non-profit membership organization founded in Austin in 1946. The Austin section focuses on family and community as well as promoting health, education, leadership development, and entrepreneurial endeavors, for minority women and youth. We fulfill our mission through research, advocacy, community based services and programs. This year again, we are focusing on improving health and fitness for our entire membership and their families in the greater Austin area. Important topics such as Stress Reduction, Exercise, Fashion and Weight Loss, will be presented in section meetings by experts within our community. Moreover, we fully support First Lady Michelle Obama's ongoing "Let's Move Campaign"! Join us as we achieve higher goals this year.
Please visit the link for our planned events. The events are in support of the goals set by our organization, while serving the women of color in Texas. We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming section activities. Also, please plan to attend our monthly meetings that are informative and inspiring.
I sincerely hope that our website provides you with more information about the organization and its members. I am personally very proud of the work that the chapter is doing and I am so happy to be able to share our efforts with you all. Our leadership teams prove to be dedicated servants in the community. We also look forward to working closely with our affiliate sections to support their events throughout this decade.
Best Regards,
Marilyn Johnson, President
